Privacy Policy for Expense Manager
Version 1. Effective from October 17, 2026.
This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the Expense Manager app (in Spanish, Gestor de gastos; Google Play ID: com.artecpy.expenses).
In short
- What you enter is stored on your phone and, if you use Android backup, also in your Google account.
- The app doesn't use servers of ours or user accounts, and it has no permission to connect to the internet.
- We don't collect, see, sell or share what you enter in the app. If you write to us, we use your message as explained in section 15.
- Backups and files you export go wherever you choose, and from then on they are under your control.
1. Who is responsible
The app is developed and published by Abel Alciviades Rojas Bernal (Artecpy), based in Horqueta, Paraguay ("we" in this policy). Abel Alciviades Rojas Bernal (Artecpy) is also the person in charge of protecting personal information. For any privacy question, write to us at artecpy.apps@gmail.com.
2. What data the app stores
The app stores what you enter:
- transactions: amount, date, category, payment method and note;
- categories, and the account with its starting balance and, if you have more than one, the transfers between them;
- recurring bills and budgets;
- if you use them, savings goals with their contributions and debts with their payments, with the name of the other person that you type;
- your settings, such as currency, language, theme, reminders and "Hide amounts", and some internal data, such as the date you started using the app.
Everything is stored in the private space Android gives the app on your phone. It isn't sent to us, and we have no way to access it. It only leaves the phone if you use Android backup (section 5) or if you export or share it (section 6).
3. What the app doesn't do
The app doesn't ask for your name, email or location. It doesn't access your contacts, photos, camera or microphone. It contains no advertising, analytics, crash reporting of its own or other third-party services that collect data. What Google Play shows us is explained in section 13.
4. Permissions
- Notifications. Used only for the reminders you turn on. On Android 13 or later, the permission is requested when you turn on a reminder, and you can refuse it.
- Technical Android permissions: starting when the phone is switched on, keeping the processor awake and checking the network state. They are added by the Android library that schedules reminders (WorkManager), so it can schedule them again, for example after the phone restarts. The app has no permission to connect to the internet.
5. Android backup and moving to a new phone
If Google backup is turned on, Android may store a copy of the app's data and settings in your Google account and use it to restore them on another phone. It may also move them directly when you transfer your data to a new phone.
On Android 9 or later, the app only allows the cloud copy if it is end-to-end encrypted; for that, the phone needs a screen lock (PIN, pattern or password). Android 8 doesn't have that condition, and the copy has whatever protection Google provides.
Those copies are managed by Google under its own privacy policy, and we have no access to them. You can turn backup off in Android's settings. Some manufacturers offer their own tools to back up or move data to another phone; those follow their own rules.
6. Backups and files you export or share
- Backup. The backup file contains all your records and the currency, including the names you typed in debts (it doesn't include your other settings), and it isn't encrypted: anyone who has the file can read it. It's saved wherever you choose: on the phone, on a memory card or in a cloud service such as Google Drive. If you choose a cloud service, that service handles it under its own terms.
- Reports you export (for example, as PDF). They are created when you ask and saved wherever you choose.
- Sharing. If you share a report, the app hands it to WhatsApp or to the app you pick, and that app handles it under its own terms. Expense Manager only gives it permission to read that file. To share it, the app keeps a temporary copy in its private space, which is replaced on the next share and which Android may delete.
7. Notifications and widget
Reminders are created on the phone and never leave it. On the lock screen they are marked as private: Android shows or hides their content depending on your settings. The widget shows the month's balance on your home screen. With "Hide amounts" turned on, the widget and the notifications don't show amounts. Keep in mind that anyone who looks at your screen can see what they show.
8. Other people's data
If you record data about other people, such as the name of someone who owes you money, it stays on your phone and in the backups you make. This is personal use: record only what you need and take care of that information. We don't receive it.
9. How long data is kept and how to delete it
Data stays on the phone while the app is installed or until you delete it. You can delete records inside the app. To delete everything, use "Clear data" or "Clear storage" for Expense Manager in Android's settings, or uninstall the app.
The copy in your Google account is managed from Android's backup settings or from your Google account. Backups and reports you saved aren't deleted with the app: you delete them yourself, wherever you saved them.
10. Security
The data is in the app's private storage, which other apps can't read under Android's security model. The app doesn't add its own encryption: protection depends on your phone. Most current phones encrypt their storage, and that protection works better with a screen lock. We recommend using one, keeping the phone updated and storing backups in a safe place.
11. Children
The app is designed for adults and isn't directed at children. The app doesn't collect data from anyone, including minors.
12. Your rights
We don't have what you enter in the app, so we can't access, correct, hand over or delete it on your behalf: you control it from the app and from the phone's settings.
For the messages you send us (section 15), and to the extent the law of the place where you live grants it, you can ask us to confirm whether we have them, for access to them or for a copy in a format you can take with you, and ask us to correct them, delete them, restrict their use or tell you who we share them with. Write to us at artecpy.apps@gmail.com, which is also our channel for data protection authorities. You can also file a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
To the same extent, you can also object to our using those messages.
13. Google Play and Android
You install and update the app through Google Play, and your phone runs Android. Google handles the data of those services under its own privacy policy. For example, Google Play shows us aggregated install statistics and, if you allowed it on your phone, technical crash reports (such as the phone model and Android version) to help us fix errors. These reports are created by Android and Google Play, not by the app, and are meant to describe the error, not your records. The app doesn't send us what you enter in it.
14. Changes to this policy
If what the app does with data changes, for example if it someday includes ads or purchases, we will update this policy before the change reaches the app, with a new version and date, and the app will show it to you. The current version is always in Settings > Privacy and terms and at https://apps.artecpy.com/gastos/privacidad.
15. If you write to us or leave a review
If you write to artecpy.apps@gmail.com, we receive your email address, your name if it appears and whatever you tell us or attach. We use it to reply and solve your question, to improve the app with what you tell us and, if needed, to defend ourselves against a claim. We do so on the basis of our legitimate interest in those purposes (in the European Union, Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation). We don't give it to anyone, except the email service we use to receive it, which stores messages on its servers in the United States and other countries, or when the law requires it. We delete messages 12 months after our last reply, unless the law requires us to keep them longer or we need them to defend ourselves against a claim. Please don't send us your backups or other people's data: we don't need them to help you.
If you leave a review on Google Play, we see the name you posted it under and what you wrote, and we can reply there. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy.
